7 years hard work, 130 pages and..."Your account has been terminated"?!

Alex - nobody in this thread disagree with what you are writing, it’s common knowledge among most contributors. Also you of course have the right to shut down ports which can be necessary. What upset us is:

- Absolutely no warning before deleting the images

- Absolutely no way to get in touch with you to clear this out

- Shutterstock is VERY slow to shut down ports with stolen images. But in this case it seems like you are reacting vert fast.

In Shutterstock want to improve something it seems that some kind of communication is desirable in order to achive a good contributor experience. I think this would be a gain for both Shutterstock and especially us contributors.

Thanks.

Indeed! To have some works rejected is perfectly normal. To see some files removed after they were accepted is less pleasant, but still normal. But not THAT! This is totally unacceptable! If it is in your power to stop such behavior, please do it! Before becoming pandemic.

@Alex Shutterstock
I also got today message about account termination due to same reason. I always tried overall to create variety in my stuff and change subjects but I got termination message today anyway. I worked hard 5 years for ss and the issue is that for it to be economically fullfilling you need to create lots of content. I do not think that anyone will support me because I have a feeling that all replies Ive got were full of anger toward me and everyone will say that my content is generated and I do not deserve to be treated like normal user. I never tried to create things that other people were doing. Always tried to find things that there is small amount of that specific type of the image and use procedural means to make it in bigger amounts. I just feel being treated very unfair after 5 years of cooperation as SS approved hundreds of thousands of images Ive submitted for last 5 years. I did not steal from anyone. Everything I did was made with my own hands. I often got rejections which did not make sense and I never posted here to put a blame on anyone for that. I just moved on. And today morning I just got a message and I feel being broken...

I admit that I used procedural graphics and methods often to create content but I still feel being treated very unfair and Shutterstock terminated my account without earlier written warning or asking me to delete repeative stuff. I understand that guidelines we agreed on are that You can delete my account at any time you want but I feel being treated like if I would submit some porn or racist stuff and What I did was simply to submit abstract images for last 5 years. Ive never created my stuff in any different manner. For last 5 years Ive always used semi-procedural approaches to create my content and people at shutterstock knew that and saw it because Ive uploaded things daily for last 2-3 years. It would be hard not to notice what I did.

By deleting my account in the middle of pandemic I fall into really huge financial trouble. For last few months ss was my main source of income as I treated it as some sort safety valve in times between one job or another. But now I cant even leave place I live to get a job and ss in that moment left me on ice without notice in worst possible moment. I feel really disappointed because we are all humans and corporate politics scares me after history like that. I am really disappointed where those corporations are going.

@oleschwander Thank you so much for your comments.

I really appreciate your honest concerns and I will share them with the Review Team. Please "don't shoot the messenger" - LOL

My job is to provide support and advocate for contributors, and I was glad to have @IM_VISUALS issue sorted out. I saw the "Bat Signal" in the sky and I came here to help - LOL

@Adrian Grosu Thanks for your comments as well. I understand where you are coming from and your frustration.

I am not sure how much "Power" I have, but I am going to share the points discussed here with our teams.

Great news @IM_VISUALS, I feel your pain, I was only thinking about the situation if would happen to me, I'll be destroyed after how much work we put in this over the years and how much time we spent on it.

Keep up the good work man, all the best to you and rest of the guys around, stay safe!

I think most contributors concerns are : How could this happen in the 1st place?

Indeed, THESE kind of drastic measures should be confirmed and RECONFIRMED before going ahead and chopping the ports off!

Probably about as much as we have :) (j/k)

Glad you're back Alex. Didn't see you in a while and was afraid they might have shipped you to Timbuktu or some place.

@Alex Shutterstock Question: I wonder was the first message and decision to deactivate portfolio made by real human (SS employee)? Or it was done by AI?

No AI folks!! :)

Real human!!

Glad to have you around, Alex.  We need more interaction from you and Kate.  Lots of issues that need to be addressed.  Hope we'll see more of you moving forward.

Good morning everyone, after i waked up, clicked to see what's happening in my port and it is like after war battle - still i have 25 restored images...

They was able to delete all of it in 1 day, but not able to restore it in one night... That's a lot losses for me/SS... Crossing fingers to restore all of it, i am a bit skeptic for now.

If it's that the speed then all of the 12,950 images will be restored in months !

@IM_VISUALS did you get a lot of rejections for similar images before the "ban"? I'm trying to understand the logic of the event's chronology.

Rejection reasons (1) Similar Content -> Rejection reasons (2) Similar Content -> Rejection reasons (3) Similar Content .... etc

And then moderator sees your portfolio and decides to suspend your account (you receive an email about the "ban")?

@IM_VISUALS I'm glad its solved! What a relief! And thank you @Alex Shutterstock

Thanks again!! Now the next step is recovering my port - for now it is REALLY REALLY slow.. If it goes with that speed it will took months of recovery. I dont think this is fine.
Wrote to Alex to check if he can what's happening there in there backend.

I wonder what will be the consequences for that extremely huge mistake.
That's a lot of lost money.

But don't  get me wrong, i am so happy to have my port activated again!

I'm hoping that it will jump from 25 to 7000+ and then fully open!
