What ever the reason, it's ShutterStocks discretion what they will and will not sell on their site. This is not the first time they've done this (they recently removed Harley Davidson photos from multiple contributors portfolios) and it won't be the last. Being indignant about it isn't going to change the fact that they have the final say on what they will and will not sell on their site. snapping at other contributors isn't going to change what they do either.

Because they are probably classified as brass knuckles. They are illegal in California, Michigan, Illinois and Vermont.

  • Brass Knuckles is the 2nd result for the auto fill feature.
  • Shutterstock photo search: Brass Knuckles (4 pages of results).

erm.. if we can't upload things that look dangerous, how will people illustrate their articles about crime?

With illustrations from other sites, of course.
