Marco Curaba
Hello together ! I am new to SS Forum but was wondering around and of course I am curious about where my pics are used. I find google reverse image search and tineye to be very inaccurate...any other options out there ? This is my absolute most downloaded pic and i have found it in a lot of different places but here are some: https://designtaxi.com/news/406856/NYPD-Is-Banning-Rappers-From-Festivals-For-Connection-To-Acts-Of-Violence/ https://www.cityandstateny.com/articles/policy/technology/nypd-ransomware-event-latest-such-attack-government-agencies.html here the pic is missing but the credit still there lool: http://www.wbyz94.com/2019/09/30/nypd-officer-shot-and-killed-after-struggle-with-armed-suspect/ But i have 35 downloaded pics over my entire portfolio and i don't find them... Jan Pohunek
Today I noticed my photo in a store shelf on a cover of an annual special issue of Czech gardening and DIY magazine "Cabineer - Cottager: A Year at Cottage".
Sharkshock
Lonely Planet used one of my images of DC's cherry blossoms for their annual "Best in Travel 2020" list. (web and print)

Agnieszka Pas
Hi, I found my photo reading local news some time ago: https://www.thejournal.ie/number-of-new-cars-registered-in-ireland-2019-4951758-Jan2020/
Roman Tiraspolsky
CNN has used my image here: https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2020/07/10/goya-ceo-donald-trump-moos-dnt-ebof-vpx.cnn They also used it as a thumb for their video. I got a whopping $0.2 for, though the same image also sold on DT for $0.35. I'd like to add that I find this new outrage/cancel culture to be idiotic.
Kelly Ermis
I am very new to stock photography and was able to find one of my photos a couple times, once on unesco where both me and shutterstock are credited. Another place I found it was on the republic of togo site: https://www.republicoftogo.com/Toutes-les-rubriques/Sante/Un-cluster-repere-en-zone-franche where they have added their own copyright. Is that allowed? I also thought you had to credit when using for editorial reasons? Thanks in advance for any insight.
balajisrinivasan
Cover of a very academic sounding text published by the Oxford University Press. Not sure if I've been credited somewhere in the book. Got 2.5 dollars for this 😔 https://global.oup.com/academic/product/susceptibility-in-development-9780198854739?lang=en&cc=in&fbclid=IwAR39s0YoOdA2QS788qQMx_nIdisICbpEi-y-czO82M1nF01LezO4ldGRvBs#

What qualifies as editorial content? This phrase essentially means anything that is designed to be newsworthy or of public interest. Books, news articles, and documentaries are some of the most common types of editorial content. Using Shutterstock images or footage in an editorial piece requires an attribution to give credit. The correct format looks like this: "Artist's Name/Shutterstock.com"

Is this something I should report or does it fall into the case of "happens all the time" with stock photography?

Seems they used a soccer players name - Vincent-Louis from team Rot-Weiss, Oberhausen, Germany. I am guessing the website did not want to show the fact they bought the image from SS, but surely this is against SS policy.

Imo - yes. Not worth the time. Be happy for the 10 cent if they have paied. 19 minutes ago, Evelyn de Waard said: The name is fake too.. Maybe they haven’t bought the image ...?

Unfortunately what I thought too. 4 minutes ago, oleschwander said: Yes I saw that too - but a mystery why they do it? Maybe they haven’t bought the image ...? That's possible, but at the time when I first saw this, I had only sold the photo twice. Once to the US and once to Paris. The only other site it was appearing on was UNESCO. No sales to Togo, though it could have been bought from somewhere else. Some of the photos on their site are copyrighted to a marketing company in Togo and some others to a guy who appears to work for this site. Strange indeed.

Maybe it is to try and prevent others from taking "their" image? It has been sold quite a few times now and I really hope they don't cause any trouble for other people using it. But probably not worth worrying about, just too bad people can't respect copyright.

It seems I read in the Terms & Conditions from a different site that this was not allowed, but I have not checked for SS.

I took this from shore at 600 mm handheld with my Sony RX10 M5. I almost didn't submit because of soft focus, but it has sold quite well!
