Review Times

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

We sincerely apologize for any extended review times. Review times can vary: our regular queues currently range from 2-8 days, but our vector queues are running high right now at 8-10 days. This is primarily due to recent increases in overall submission volume. Images are reviewed on a first-in, first-out basis depending on the content type (for example, illustrations vs. editorial images). We expect turnaround times to be getting back to normal soon.

Occasionally, a single batch of images can take a longer amount of time because the images were selected for a more thorough review. This often happens when there is a more complex determination that needs to be made, or there was a problem with the batch such as insufficient credentials and releases.

We are taking a number of steps to improve turnaround time, including:

* We have added additional trained reviewers to each queue.

* We are asking that contributors submit credentials prior to an event for editorial images.

* We are reminding contributors to accurately differentiate between photos and illustrations.

* Lastly, we have clarified some policies around illustration reviews.

Each of these efforts will make queues go faster. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

If you feel that a specific batch is taking an extraordinary and unreasonable amount of time to review, please feel free to reach out to us at submit@shutterstock.com.

Note: Please do not submit multiple tickets on the same issue if it can be avoided; this may actually increase response times as multiple tickets need to be processed.

Sincerely,

Shutterstock Support Team

Director, Contributor Success

Anthony what do you think about this idea?

Since current delays in review times mean not only that images take longer to get accepted, but also that there are huge differences between contributors (or even individual batches within a portfolio), I would propose that Shutterstock change the way the "Newest" order is displayed. Right now it takes into account the image ID and since that number is given at the time of upload it represents the order in which images were uploaded not the time they were approved and available for sale.

I understand this would require adding a new set of data for each image (date of approval, instead of just using the ID number), but I don't see how else can you resolve the situation where images uploaded even two or three weeks later are already available for download when others are still under review. Clearly the order in which images are approved has nothing to do with the order they were uploaded. If the delay is 2-3 weeks (as it is now) there could be even more than 200 thousand images in front of your "fresh" content.

This change would create a more fair competition and would prevent the fresh high quality content getting buried underneath other files.

That would explain why new content gets buried never to be seen again... I had not thought of that... ugh!

I wait for 23 days. Support ignores my two messages sent on Wednesday and Friday.

Please accept my work. Before that support sent me a week ago that everything is normal and soon all will, but I do not think that is normal when my posts are ignored and not do what they promise.

Dear Anthony, could you please say: How many authors WITH PHOTO expect more than a month? My photos are not checked for 32 days. And while some authors check in 3-5 days. This situation is very difficult to understand.

Dear Anthony, thank you for informing us the situation.

But it seems that my photo and some others here have to wait 20-30 days for many times now. So it's painful to know that most people still got their image review in 2-7 days because there is too much difference in time. I can't help myself to feel nervous because my sales (and viewer) are going down day-by-day from the delay.

I don't know how I can compete with other contributors if this situation still going.

ps. it's not just my photo that are delaying... but also my vectors, illustration, and editorial which are all delay too. I am sure that my vector and illustration don't have any problem to be justified for special case. I also provide a property release to detail illustration.

sorry for my poor English.

What troubles me is that my whole process is being held up. So my motivation to submit is diminishing.

Do you have an update for us, Anthony?

Thanks for your time.

If there are some batches that have problems, is there a possible way of reviewing other batches (or other file type) first?

I think skipping only the batches that need special justification is better than delaying an entire process and destroying all other image.

Do not check on Shutterstock photo of 34 days without explanation (yesterday was wrong in days). Is there a similar situation in other microstock?
