The Hummer Thread Vol.2!!!

Oooh another Sari, jow cool!

MrSorbias do you have another name we can call you? It sounds like you have had an interesting life! Ouch on the glass burn. I have messed with glass but never blew it. That is an amazing skill. You have beautiful images btw!

Sari you have heat, we were expecting it to go down to 10C (50F) last night but it only went to 11.5C (53F)... still way too cold for me.

Wendy - I agree that's kinda on the cool side, but for night temps in the winter - not too awful :D

I'm pretty sure SariMe and MrSorbias are getting near those temps at night in the middle of summer...LOL

I am sure they are Sari, but I am not used to cold weather and to me that is way too cold hehe At least its not tooi bad during the day :)

It only got to about 104F here today but still too hot for me. Back home it’s currently 63F. Here it’s still 97F as the sun is setting. I’m enjoying the visit but also looking forward to going back home. We did a few baby photos today. Nothing spectacular but a start. Light should be better first thing in the morning so we’ll try again in her bedroom tomorrow morning with natural light. Had to use a flash and bounce it off a reflector. Their house is quite dark. Which makes it stay cooler but not great for photos

Sheila - it's the ebb and flow of the sales. With the diversity you have in your port, it will surely change before the end of the month. Best thing to do is not pay any attention to it and just go on as normal business :)

May was abysmal for me, and then a few days ago, I had enough $$$ in SODs to beat the entire month of May in a single day. Wish I had more days like that, LOL! It's a welcome breath of fresh air to say the least.

That said, I have a single 10 cent sale today, so not flying so high with that :P

Yeah, trying not to obsess over it but I’ve definitely gotten used to the more frequent larger sales. Summer is usually slower for me but July is traditionally the worst month in my port. Not June. I can’t help but check stats every day. It’s an addiction at this point I’m sure.

You just have to trust that even if you haven't had those great sales yet, they will show up.

Quite the drama today at the European Soccer championship tournament today, where in the game between Denmark and Finland a Danish player fell on the turf unconscious, and they had to suspend the game until they knew the player was stable at the hospital where they took him. Then, despite Denmark dominating the entire game, Finland managed to score a goal on the only opportunity they had, and they won. It was a wild ride! 😮

Still hot here, heat advisory on with 105F possible heat index. It should start to cool off about now, though, as it's getting close to 6pm. The thunderstorms that rolled through late last night/ early this morning added some moisture, hence the heat index climbing up again.

115 here today. Yuck.

spending extra time in the hotel room to say cool so also updating keywords on Adobe. When I was uploading to fotolia before Adobe took them over my keywords were frequently in abc order as a result of the upload process. Those are many of the images they want on the free program. I know their ranking is already established but figured it couldn’t hurt to fix the keywords rather than try to find them all to delete and reupload. .

Sari I saw that drama in the Soccer game,  I was impressed at the actions of the team and officials.

As for Ebb and Flo, I have more Ebb than Flow to be honest. I have to sit down and take a "moment" if I have a decent download.

I have not done anything with my keywords on Adobe. I did nominate some, but not all. I am not going to offer for free what sells regularly elsewhere.

Wendy I added a handful to their free selection too but they’re all cell phone shots that don’t sell well nowhere too. Nominating them doesn’t mean they’ll take them though either. We’ll have to wait and see how that goes. It definitely doesn’t help either to feel inspired.

at least it is only for 12 months Sheila

I’m sure they’ll try to extend things. The mods over on discord say the free image selection is supposed to attract new customers and they say that their trial on the program showed an increase in customers signing up but I remain skeptical that anyone will pay for products if they can get them for free. Time will tell.

I guess we just have to wait and see

Yeah 115F straight up temps is pretty brutal. I've only seen 114F temps once and that was nine years ago in the middle of the horrible drought we were in. We see 114F heat index every once in a while, but not the actual temps.

Our low 90s today would probably feel pretty cool :D

I don't see how an image that's been given away for free could ever have any value later on - it'll end up on thousands of hard drives and be shared (and worst case - resold as someone else's own by those looking to make some easy $$) - nobody will think "oh this was supposed to be free for just a year, I can't use it any more"...

And nobody will have ANY control over how and when those images will be used.

They will also drive down the sales of similar images that are not free - because, why pay when you don't have to?

Just my half a cent's worth 😐

Now, redoing the keywords on AS on the old images that have them still in alphabetical order - THAT is the winning idea. Good thinking, Sheila!

Sari the inability to sell the images later is why I only said yes on a few images shot with my iphone that may have sold once or twice when first uploaded then never again

its currently 109 with 9% humidity. Supposed to hit 115. Feels pretty dry but it is a bit cloudy too. Just high clouds. I’m told they’re expecting possible monsoon weather soon.

We never get humidity as low as that, ours is "exceptionally low" if it's in the 20+% range, and it doesn't happen often. Right now the range is 40%-80% for the next few days, and it could easily be higher at this time of the year.

We're about 95F for highs for the next days, and about 70F for lows.

Dew points are mid 60s, which is super comfortable vs. the mid 70s we had last week!

It hit 111 here in northern Arizona. Too hot for us but we will be heading back east soon.

Yeah, the dry heat makes for a lot of nose bleeds. My youngest dtr had three of them the night before last. I’m loving the baby and kid time but definitely looking forward to the weather back home. We’re already talking about next year they come visit us during the summer. I’ll come back to visit in the winter months.

@Charles Lewisi thought the higher elevations in northern Arizona helped negate the hotter temps there. I guess not. Hope you have a nice vacation.

Haha, I used to get those back in the day with dry COLD 😮 😮 :D

Dry heat is totally different to humid heat ....

Same thing with dry cold to humid cold -- the humid is way worse, it goes right through your bones, while the dry doesn't even feel so cold.

Dry heat feels like you have a hair dryer blowing in your face, but humid hot feels like someone is choking you, while you're sweating your skin off.

or like taking a hot shower and then trying to dry yourself with a wet towel.

right now we have 84F, feels like 95F Humidity 81% and a dewpoint of 78F, which gives us that wet towel kind of thing feel (the dewpoint that is)

but overall, not too bad, it will be worse in the coming 6 months or so

Rudy, that sounds horrible! LOL. Sorry, but I’m glad its your weather and not mine!

10AM here and up to 103F. Humidity 14% today with a 10% chance of rain (must be those monsoons they’re expecting). We only have a few more hours then we’ll be heading to the airport. Since it might take awhile to get through security with the sudden increase in people traveling and at least the airport is air conditioned. It’ll likely take me awhile to sort through the images and video I took while here. I have over 70 clips to sort through and cull. That alone will likely take a few days. Plus now I need to figure out the FTPS for Adobe. Never did get the FTPS for SS to work but have been using their uploaded since it works for videos as well. Just a little more time consuming.
