Rudy Umans
4 hours ago, Milleflore Images said: I started off ok but things quickly petered off here for me this month. I am down 300 DLs and over $400 on SS last year. However, my total sales across all agencies have hit $2,000 USD with 10 days to go, and even iS is 25% up. SS used to bring in 40% to 50% of my sales, so it looks like the problem is here on SS - for me at least. ☹️ Hope your December comes in well, Wilm. We have ten days to go. But as you said, historically the lowest sales days of the year. (Unless, of course, we get some Christmas miracles. 😉) For me, your work is the standard for your kind of work and if you do bad, they all do bad I would think MS is doing a lot worse for me too (no surprise), while my art sales are way up this year. Best year of the last five actually. Funny how that goes.
Charles Lewis
I have no expectations from now until after the New Year holiday. I did pretty well - and much better than last December - up to the end of last week. Anything between now and January is a bonus.

And I can't keep up with your impressive numbers anyway. I have not even reached half of your downloads on shutterstock. At AS I have exactly the same download volume as in the same period last year, but with 32% less revenue. Compared to SS, I still have 70% more revenue at AS. I can't even imagine how big the difference would be if I had already been downgraded to level 1. As it looks right now, it could be my worst month ever at shutterstock. We'll know more in 10 days. I wish you and everyone else here a Merry Christmas! And stay healthy everyone!!! Many greetings to Down Under! Thanks Wilm! And wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas too ! Yes, and it seems that its SS that is struggling this month more than other agencies. iS and AS are up and other agencies holding their own but the big drop in DLs here and their percentage of total sales, for me anyway, but that is quite significant. Something is amiss here. ETA: If iS and AS are indeed taking away SS's sales, then all of SS's changes this year may have been all for nothing! They are possibly really struggling and it was all just plugging holes in a slowly sinking ship??? (Just some random thoughts that I have been having)
Former_Poster
Im not seeing a drop in volume here at all, just a drop in what i get paid for it. Today is definitely the start of the pre-christmas sales rush before everything stops. Several decent video sales.

The situation with regard to my port is because I specialise in holiday stock, a big 'change' in volume at this time of the year between agencies - ie 2 agencies going up and 1 going down by a similar amount, is quite significant. Former_Poster
50% of my stuff is travel, the rest is wildlife roughly. This week of the year normally theres a pre-christmas buying rush then drops to nothing until the first working day of the new year. So far today seems to be the start of that rush. Volume wise SS to me is pretty constant, as are the other agencies.

How is that possible Sari, with so many beautiful pictures?! I thought I was already doing bad ... One in Australia, one in USA, one in England. The rest the last days in the Netherlands. Very few sales, but often above 0.10 cents. 😁
Sari ONeal
Thijs, thanks, but I think you misunderstood -- there are 19 DLs piled up in that one [square looking] spot on US east coast. Had I been paying attention, I might have caught a moment when all 20 showing were from the same spot...LOL

Wilm Ihlenfeld
I'm still missing 190 downloads to get the 70,000 full. But I won't be able to get them in by the end of December. It still looks like it will be my worst month ever at shutterstock.

I must admit in 8 years I havent seen that trend. What's your average # of downloads per month, just so we can compare trends. That would be interesting? Oh, Annie, I recently asked you how far you had to go to reach 100,000 downloads. Now I know. You'll get there in a short time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
DaLiu
Here are my stats, in the end was worst than 2019 but keeping in mind that im doing mostly travel, landscape and there is almost no travelling around the world, im good.
Doug Jensen
Compared to Dec 1 - 23, 2019 vs. the same period this year . . . Number of Downloads: Up 86% Revenue: Up only 7%. Revenue is what matters most, but obviously the average return per sale is dropping.

Yeah, to make that extra 10,000 since May or June (I can't remember exactly when I hit 90k) has been tough going this year, especially during the middle of the year. But thanks, Wilm! You're not too far behind either.

They are more in the league of Doug. So I dont think mine is that great. But from the start I have stuck with a few rules**, and they have worked for me. It has provided a relatively good second income for my family, and yes - I do it for fun and the love of shooting, and thats the most important thing to me. ** For me, its been more like 'paint by numbers'. I don't think I am particularly talented, like some people that I know (Have you seen ports like Iain Campbell or Mihai's? And even yours, Wilm!), but I have learned a lot along the way. Plus I have learnt to play to my strengths.

And there are so many more to take a cue from.
