Does Shutterstock want compressed footage?

Recommended Posts

We've had these heated discussions here regarding what to supply to the customers, and several of us feel that anything compressed would short-change the client. But lately, Shutterstock keeps sending me emails / newsletters talking about how to compress video files. So, is this what they want us to do?? Certainly would cut down on storage and time on my end...

Oh, but remember, compressed videos have artifacts, and they reject all those...

A while back I read one of their blog posts about file formats and compression - and I was thinking to myself:  "How is this helpful if SS will reject the compressed files anyway?"

There are other blog posts like that, talking about file sizes for pics that would be far too small to submit here. Makes you wonder if they pay for those "opinion pieces" that have no actual value to us as far as stock goes?
