Well said.! I still cannot believe it 3 months later. Since the end of July I had 10c DLs only. Your work & even mine (I've not traveled for years) is worth more. I have old photos I took in philippines taken with an old cheap P&S camera, (all I had at the time) downsize to the min 4 mega pix & they actually get through the picky reviewers here. Why should I waste shutter count on my best camera or why should you or anyone else for that matter? The idiot at SS who decided this should be sacked as it's not even third world rates of pay. If they want pro quality images they have to pay properly for it.

In India which is a poor country (period, there are no two opinions about this) if I offer 10 cents to a beggar (in local currency of course) he will throw it back on my face. And we professional photographers are expected to line up outside SS doors to sell our images at 10 cents per download? Shame on us. Hurt at getting such a low price for their quality images, many pros have stopped submitting their good work to SS. As a result, what I find in portfolios of many subscribers now are absolutely third rate amateurish images (even my school going grandson shoots better images) but  SS is still doing business. I can't believe that people out there are actually buying these amateur shots. Don't they have a better choice with other stock agencies? I strongly suspect SS has laid of most of their reviewers as earlier I used to get my images approved in 10-15 minutes of submission (surprised? Even I used to find it hard to believe) but now it takes 5-7 days for same.  Obviously, no business no staff.

In an email that is going out today, we are announcing that we will be updating the earnings structure that determines how much you get paid when customers license your work. We are making this adjust

This space will be updated to address frequently asked questions.  My email shows different counts for videos than are shown above. Which is correct? Apologies. The email to video contributo

Just when you think Shutterstock couldn't completely and utterly screw the contributors and more you've gone and done it. Effectively with a January reset everybody gets a cut of 20% or more of e

Just to keep the thread alive.

The thread has survived the messenger (Kate is gone). Haven't heard anything from Alex or Anne.
This thread has almost a million views.  😵

And of course it has been almost a year since the new earnings were introduced. Would we have a party? Maybe a bonus?  💲💲😉

I'm pretty sure the top management has been partying along with the shareholders.🙃

So now they're also taking money back from us?

A lot of adjustments are from Clifton, USA.

What kind of respectful business works this way? Shutterstock is turning into garbage, with minimal cuts to contributors and a lot of accepted rubbish.

Hello Anya, what is your monthly earnings on SS?

About $600 (or a little more) right now. Which isn't exactly "nothing", but a sad joke compared to what I used to earn a few years back.
This isn't about Shutterstock only (although doing such to us right in the middle of a frickin' pandemic wasn't exactly nice), but the entire business model going down the drain. (A development definitely fueled by Shutterstock's decisions as an industry leader.)

But I'm out of this, anyway.

That is probably the essential point. It was done at a time when countless contributors just couldn't help but shut up and move on. Morally, this is and remains a mess!

It is clear to me that your revenues have dropped dramatically compared to the past. Despite all that, it's still remarkable considering the size of your portfolio and the fact that you don't offer videos. From my point of view you can still be proud of what you have achieved, even if I can understand your frustration very well.

If you act this way, you will push more artists to competing sites. Now that such a bad decision has been made, you can suggest another way to increase earnings.

For example, if you are promised that your content for sale will only be on Shutterstock, your percentage will increase.

This ensures that the original content is yours alone. And you may protect the rights of the usurped artist.

We are making this adjustment in order to reflect changes in the market for creative content, help to create fair opportunities for all our contributors, and reward performance with greater earnings potential.

This is a terrible robbery! And you talk about rewarding. This decision needs to be softened as soon as possible.

Wow. Today, something EXCELLENT, OUTSTANDING, MAGNIFICENT, SUPERB, SPLENDID, IMPRESSIVE, FIRST-CLASS, ETC, ETC happened. I went up to level 3. I can't believe it, I am on level 3. I am going to drink a glass of water. It is the thing I can afford after the increase.

I just went up from USD 0.10 to... USD 0.10

I passed level 2, 1 month ago, so I should have got much more than
0.1$, but unbelievably I'm still getting 0.1$ for every sale

so what do you want me to do, shutterstock, I was supposed to upload vectors for your bank yesterday, well I didn't send you anything, it's my way of protesting and opposing your price list

because if I upload images, it means that I agree and I really don't,

I'm not a bum, so me to come back I want level 1 at 0.25$ minimum that's what any other bank gives, to these counter-buyers

so I want:
0.25$ minimum
stop resetting every year

and then maybe I can send you some
in my opinion, you have shot yourself in the foot.

you already don't accept CSV, all the banks i work with almost all accept CSV.

you treat your contributors like shit, (very bad strategy)

but you treat your shareholders better, the stock market has made a huge rise, (for how long).

So if you want everything to go back to normal, I'll give you a hint of what you should do

say that you were wrong, and announce a date to say that from say JANUARY 2022, the accounts are in the green then you abandon the restrictions that you have put us,

without the contributors you're going to go under

For me, the facts look like this:

From June 2020 to May 2021, my RPD was 2 cents lower than in the same period the year before.

Or put another way: Due to the new revenue structure, I took in 1.8% less money with 1.1% more downloads.

This is significantly less bad than I had suspected at the beginning.
But my slightly improved performance was not rewarded, as I had been promised, but rather punished.

I don't know what that looks like with other contributors.

I am currently a level 4 contributor. And I will be a level 5 contributor soon. In light of this information, could you explain to me, when my works are sold why is still paid 10 cents commission to me? I am not an artist who is at the beginner level in your system. Why are you insist on insulting and exploiting us so much? It would be better if you told me to delete my account from your system.

Contributors don't care and continue to upload. Is that what we see here?
