New earnings structure for Contributors

I don’t like that Shutterstock doesn't have a dialogue with the authors. And don't react at all.

Angry Contributors!

They simply do not want to, they have made their decision and nothing will make them go back, certainly not a million little angry contributors .
Don't get too many illusions, boycotts, petitions and the like will have no effect .

It's the stock investors that will get ripped off.  The SS people will sell their stocks and little do buyers know that the company is more or less dead.  We need to get out there and write to all buyers, agencies, but also investors.  And not bother investors with contributor problems, but the fact that Shutterstock will lose sales and customers because there is nothing new to sell.

You are absolutely right!. If you are interested join the Facebook Group below. We might be able to swing something back at Shutterstock.

This whole thing is one big fucking joke. I have deactivated my account. Almost all of my sales after the change were 0.10USD. Don't listen to those jokers that send bullshit screenshots allegedly showing that they still earn the same, those are just idiot actors probably hired or made a deal with shutterstock.

Deactivate your accounts - don't let those greedy executives earn more millions at our price!

0.10usd... it's so pathetic that it's not even funny anymore

Did someone not think at all ?

The total earnings I made in my 4 + years with Shutterstock is what I make in 1 -2 months at my swedish stock agency, and now they want to pay the contributors even less. Last straw for me. If they do not change their policies I will delete my account completely.

I turned off sales 14 days ago and requested my account be terminated.  It took 3 days for my public portfolio to disappear which is ok.  But after 2 emails to SS to terminate my account I have yet to hear anything.

I wrote them 50 emails, with stan pavlovsky in copy. They finally deleted it.

They have 30 days to reply but if you write many, many, many emails to privacy@shutterstock.com and spavlovsky@shutterstock.com they will reply you in 1 hour

I've just begun building up my portfolio on www.picfair.com , just giving it a shot as I've got nothing to lose anyways. But they look decent to me, though they're still in a niche.

You need to look at the entire pay table to understand. Here is an unofficial version of it I created based on my understanding of the publicly available package costs and percentages, open to any corrections. Levels mean more $ for photos and less ways to get the smaller amounts.

He’s a bit more than a teenager, but in a few posts he states he feeds his whole family with Stock Photo earnings (70 USD monthly?).

For the quality of his takes, get a look on any of his photos in the portfolio.

He’s now convincing the new contributors to stay, because he makes great earnings.

Anyone can understand he has no friends, and needs to seek attention here, to feel powerful. His joy is causing pain to people, as a revenge, because he’s not accepted by society.

He’s trying to distract all the conversations pointing to the real fact that MOST of our content is sold for 0.10.

He has a signature leading to clickbait, and he’s not afraid of being banned for not respecting the forum guidelines (because he knows he will not be banned), while SS is banning every second user of this forum for less.

I think there’s nothing more to add to judge his credibility.

As per his request, i am editing this post. The other paid troll is Thomas Andreas

Thank you for this presentation, but I think you should have left out the part about his looks, it's really not something to pick on if you want to criticize someone.
But those food pictures... Reminds me of photos in a group called Roast My Ugly Vegan Food :))

This is absolutely RIDICULOUS. I have had 10 downloads so far this month and made $1.48? Do you guys realize you would be nothing without your contributors? Because this is treating them like garbage.

You're making dimes now . . .the first of each year you'll make pennies meanwhile . . .

Securities and Exchange filings show during the first week of June:

Five board directors were each given 4,062 shares of stock valued at about $142,000.

Founder Jon Oringer dumped 85,000 shares worth about $3,000,000.

Anybody still here?

LOL x infinity at personal attacks and portfolio content over showing what I believe the pay table is.

Have a great day. :)

Many of you are looking at this the wrong way. Saying that this is showing that shutterstock is saying our work is now worth less cause they pay us less. That's incorrect as the value for our work has stayed the same. Shutterstock still collects the same amount of money from our work now, as they did before.

What really has happened is Shutterstock has said that the value for the services they provide has increased in value.

If I'm paying Shutterstock a much higher premium to license when they license my work, what additional services, features, extra income opportunities are doing creating with that additional income we as the contributor are providing to them? That's a huge difference to have my net earnings go down 75% due to shutterstock taking a bigger share.

As the value of our work has stayed the same, but you just want a larger payment, what are you going to do to help offset and justify taking a larger percentage of the pie now? What are you doing to create value with this additional income you request us to give?

You want to know how to make contributors happy, then you must create value with what you ask us to pay you. How is shutterstock using this to create value?

Shutterstock was my first choice agency.  You just dropped down to number 4.  My RPD with 2 other agencies has actually gone up this year.   They will be getting more attention from me.

It's ridiculous that you reset the sales amount to zero every January.  It's legit to want fresh, in demand content.  This could be accomplished more fairly by using a 12-month rolling sales total.

Ridiculous.
