New earnings structure for Contributors

This is not correct.

When the new earnings structure goes into effect, the payout for subscription plans will not be less than 10¢.

If it is not correct then please provide a similar table showing the correct numbers.

I can't tell if this is going to be good or very bad without a real case scenario with the new earnings structure, but that tier reset on January 1st feels like a slap in the face to say the least.

please @Kate Shutterstock don't take long in giving us some answers because this situation is becoming a real concern for all of us.

Question for the admin: I am a level 5 contributor now according to your new system. How much will do I get for a subscription download??? Will I get something similar to 38c or my subs income will allways be lower since June?

10 cents

So give us the correct new earning structure

The minimum payout was 25 cents, and from June 1 - 10 cents.
Following this logic, the next level of 33 cents is now 15 cents. Why call a fair system, correctly call we lower payments to distributors.

So you really think its decent to expect us to do the maths or else we are left in ignorance?

We cannot compare our current sales to this.  We don't have the detailed information to do so.  We don't know what enhanced sells for.  We don't know what percentage of sales are from what buyers at each level.

Disgusting amount of greed here. Makes me sick. Grotesquely taking advantage of creators.

This industry is done. It was already a race to bottom, and now this. What is the incentive for creators? The amount of man hours put into to crafting these images and the time involved to upload them is not worth this. GROSS.

So, like 90% of sales will be 10 cents for 90% of us, amrite guys?

Well, when a lot of people lost their jobs and their income was drastically reduced because of the Covid crisis, Shutterstock decided to put a bullet in our heads. That's very humane, indeed.

This is from here.

"To opt out of sales, log into your account and navigate to the Account Settings page from the drop-down menu under your name in the top right corner of the page. Scroll down to the section How can we license your work? and select No for the sales options."

Funny I don't see the How we can license your work section? Anyone else?

I guess that support article is outdated. I have a feeling it's gonna get a lot of views.

I have been working with Shutterstock since 2014 and this is my FIRST post on the blog. I think this choice is wrong and totally to be reviewed.

No surveys have been conducted to understand at least the opinion of the contributors. Little by little you were going lower and lower, but now you have hit bottom and it is time for us contributors to make themselves heard.

I also agree to disable all my files, both photos and videos, starting from June 1, 2020.
Let's do it all, we are the pillars of Shutterstock, if the pillars collapse the whole system will collapse.

June 1, 2020, disable your content! Do it too, it's important.

Shutterstock has not managed to figure out how to motivate the contributors. They're supposed to use a carrot and stick method. They've used a stick and stick method. Shutting my portfolio down June 1st.

This is a very wrong decision for the authors! I have been creating my content since 2009! I earned my reward with labor! Now they are throwing me down, but my works are for sale! I conclude that I will not upload content for sale. Thank you for your concern (during the pandemic COVID19! Shame on greed!

Coldly explaining to a lot of people who are hurt

This is not fair on @Kate Shutterstock I think. She really is a lovely and helping person and certainly doing her best. Please don't go too hard on her because of the circumstances out of her control. ❤️

I just deleted all pending images. I've been uploading over 200 a week for months. That just stopped.

I have seen a few monumental screw-ups in this industry in the last 16 years, but this one takes them all.

"All contributors reset to level 1 for both images and videos every year on January 1st. By resetting the royalty levels each year, we aim to provide an avenue for contributors to be fairly rewarded for content that is performing well at the current time."

Add me to the list of "Are you out of your minds?!"

It would maybe help calm some nerves if you could provide insight as to which type of sub is the most prevalent purchased by SS buyers. And how much the average buyer pays for an ODD.
