New earnings structure for Contributors

In general, I will not load anything normal on SS. As soon as there is sufficient income from other drains, I will delete the image from the SS. Unfortunately at the moment financial difficulties, but such sales do not motivate ...ūü•∂

So at Level 1 I now have to sell 10 images to make US$1.00. You have got to be kidding me! No more uploads to Shutterstock. I'll stick with Dreamstime, Alamy and Getty. Sell one image with any of those and at the very minimum I can earn 100 times more more than Shutterstock pay. I've sold images with Getty that have earned US$35 each! That's an earning of 350 times more than Shutterstock, just for a single image......

I disabled my whole portfolio, and now I'm working on deleting all pictures. I don't trust shutterstock any longer. Even if they return to their old system, I won't stay.
10 cents per download- not worth my time.

So I spent 3 years building my portfolio and reaching the 2nd level to now get 10 and 12 cent sales. 5 sales today for a whopping 76 cents. What a waste of my time and money, disappointed with iStock after their massive financial bungle mid year last year and what Shutterstock are doing should be illegal, will stick with Adobe who are by far the best and the quickest submission, Dreamstime I started building recently and adding in Depositphotos to replace Shutterstock. Going to branch out with video on POND5 as well. Now to find out how to pause or delete my account.

In your dashboard, go to Account Settings (upper right corner) > Licensing Options (lower right). Choose "No" for photo and video. Click "Save Settings." I've heard it can take 72 hours or so for it to take effect, but mine seemed to take effect within 24 hours.

Thank you

this is not exact :

Customers are never permitted to use your content in a way that is defamatory, deceptive, pornographic, libelous, obscene, or illegal.

if you say no, they stop to sell  image and video.

but maybe with delay.

i wait to have my 35$ minimum cashout and i will say NO

No one knows a lawyer to know if this is legal ? Uber must have descent minimum payout, musicians and producers too.. what about us ?

Customer support told me that since I don't have a payout ready if I  left to datedecide to leave the do an exception and pay me whatever earnings are to date.

I don't believe from these 50 million stock photos (not vectors) you can't find plenty of shutterstock contributors selling there.

So while we complain, our fellow contributors are selling their entire portfolios for unlimited downloads: 14.50$ month!

Sounds like a deal?

I have a small port on a so¬†called ‚Äěunlimited‚Äú site. Not the one you mentioned.

Sales are very slow, but on average I earn 2-4 dollars per download. Sometimes my average is even over 4 dollars a download.

The one I am with share the real percentage with the artist, not a fixed low subs price. If a customer only downloads a few files per month, then the remaining unused money of the package is shared evenly with the artists.

People are not idiots, nobody uploads to unlimited sites and accepts 2 cents if elsewhere they get 38 cents.

Also if¬†you look closely at the various ‚Äěunlimited‚Äú packages, you will realize that¬†these companies¬†often have daily download limits so people cannot abuse the system.

So before you accuse the producer community of stupidity  go educate yourself. Learn about this industry before making unqualified assumptions.

There are indeed companies out there that have¬†extremly low prices, even without unlimited programs.¬†But they don‚Äėt have good content, often just a one man show begging for more files.¬†The few high quality assets they have, they had to pay for¬†upfront in special deals from large stock factories. Sometimes they also rent a large offer of files for a fixed monthly price from said stock factories. These are really expensive deals, not birdseed level.

10 cents a download works nowhere. Even Getty, that have some low paying programs, pays non-exclusives around 40-70 cent on average for sales. Non exclusive photos only (ignoring the connect program, but with that the customers get no downloaded file, they just pin images on pinterest)

No money, no quality uploads. Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

If you struggle financially, and screwing up your contributors in the process, consider moving your office to a most cost-effective solution. You're paying me 10 cents per download, but reside in Empire State building !

Seeing my earning dropped to 10 cent per image. It hurts. I spent all my precious time, my weekends, my precious 3hrs which could have been used to rest after my day job every night to make my images. I feel burned out, like a slave, i have lost my sanity to push push push push out images.

Do you know how much time to plan, shoot, post process, upload, keywording my images. It's A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT.

I am now making 10cents (level 3) per images! What on earth is wrong with you taking 85% of the profit? You guys have no compassion and sympathy.

I only live once and you took away a slice of it. You have wasted a slice of my life to making images for your plaform in the past years.

Everyone (including you) is going to die one day anyway.

It not worth my time to make images on your platform anymore.

I'm on Level 1 and just earnt 22 cents on an image sale. What would have that been on the old earnings system - $1.88?

I think so. I just had my first 0,10$ sale. I will not be uploading any more pictures here, but i think I won't delete the ones I have.

I am super disappointed ;‚ÄĚ‚ÄĚ‚ÄĚ‚ÄĚ(

I’ve spend so so many crazy hours for my high quality illustration just for that kind of return from shutterstock? I felt my arts is really not appreciated AT ALL. Definitely NOT worth for my precious hours. So so so so so soooooo disappointed.

Thank you for the information. I almost believed to that post about unlimited downloads, but then I've read yours. That's interesting, that some recently joined members in the forum trying hard to shift focus and blame contributors.

Is this joke? I'm food photographer, I spend more money for one photo shoot, then I will earn in a month. And hours of cooking, preparations, shooting, editing... For 10 cents??? If I upload 10-20 quality photos and I have not 10k photos in portfolio then I will never gain 100$ in a year!

Imagine a situation where client with $249 subscription plan buys only one of your images and nothing else for that month. He paid $249, Shutterstock got $248.9 and you and your model have to share $0.10. You get $0.05 and you say to your model that he is worth $0.05. I don't want to explain that to my model when he asks me how much images of him/her are being sold for. It is demeaning beyond comprehension. I am really not comfortable selling images of some people for that amount, especially not in bulks where someone has 750 monthly plan and decides to buy all images from me. That simply devalues images, devalues that person that is now on more banners, flyers.. whatever. And all for 0.10$, not even worth of printing model release paper.
