  1. hello, I'm new here. Recently I wanted to submit my photo of a dirty ball. But it got rejected because it got "too much noise". I think they mistaken the scratches on the ball as noises. I've attached the picture below. any ways that my photo can get accepted? I don't want to remove the scratches because it's the main focus here
  2. sorry please help, what is the solution if the place submits an error. as shown below:
  3. Hello, I am fairly new here and i just want to understand if comercial photos are purchased just as much as the editorials. Plus I am really confused about what to submit as editorial and what to submit as commercial. here is an example down below... Thanks in advance.
  4. When submitting footage, the hardest part seems to be keywording and metadata entry. Does anyone have a good workflow for simplifying and making this process less painful? Keyword generators (for ideas, not for copy & paste), metadata apps, file organization, etc? Currently I'm just kind of making it up/thinking it up as I go and not surprisingly, it's not very efficient at ALL.
  5. Hey Guys Im trying to submit some pictures with the name of the place that it was taken but shutterstock do not allow that because it regonize it as keyword error! The names are in English, like what is the name in English of Ancona city in Italy ? Its just Ancona and thats an error for shutterstock. Is there a method to overcome that despite using their smartphone app because that is a slow method and take time ?
  6. Hi, How do I upload my CSV batch file? I'm new here, uploaded 250 photos and searching where to submit my CSV batch file. It takes a long time to make the CSV file, so I don't want to copy paste to each one as possible. Can anybody give instruction and if possible with screenshots? Thanks!
  7. Hi I'm wondering about file formats having to be either JPEG or EPS. I am able to convert PNGs to EPS, but will the file have the same vector qualities as a work that was actually made in illustrator or similar? And why doesn't shutterstock accept PNGs whose resolution is really high, in addition to vectors/eps? Surely a png file that retains the same quality even if it's enlarged to the full size of a wall is good enough even if it's not vector, or perhaps I am missing something obvious?
  8. I uploaded some video via ftp using Filezilla. But file disappear, I can't describe it and submit. Please help me.
  9. When you got a big batch of photos you want to upload, let's say that you want to start seeing results right away instead of in a week. Assuming that 80% or higher of, let's say, 150 photos are approved on Shutterstock, would you try to upload all the photos and get them all reviewed in one fell swoop, or do you upload batches of them, one at a time? When I uploaded my first 130 photos here, it took about 5 days to get them all evaluated, in which almost all of them were rejected. That's in comparison to 20 photos, which were reviewed in two full days. See, I don't know how the review system works within Shutterstock as a new contributor, but considering I want to try to get as most of the uploaded photos onto my portfolio as possible, which would be the fastest way? Submit all of my 150 photos in one setting, or upload 20 photos for now, have them reviewed, and after some approvals and rejections, upload the next 20 and so on? In the long run, getting 150 photos submitted and reviewed may be faster, but it's possible more time may be lost because of editing required in order to get rejected ones approved, or some photos simply can't be uploaded because I don't have permission to do so. I can't control how fast the photos are reviewed because it's not my role to review them to see if they can be put on my portfolio and up for sale. But I can control how frequent or big I upload them.
  10. Gets frustrating. I alone have made SS over a quarter million dollars on their share of sales (their 70%) yet rejections in last couple months are crazy. A couple weeks ago it was great and accurate, 99% approval. Before that 20-30% rejections for a couple months before and now this week back to 20-40% rejections on footage. Almost all are for noise, pixilization problems. All shot with Canon 1DX MK II and some from Canon 5D MK IV. Yet crap from cell phones and old GoPro are accepted by the thousands probably every day. So some hired help in Pakistan or India that reviews footage is a better judge of pixilization and noise than one of the first SS footage contributors shooting and contributing since 2005 with some of the absolute cleanest shooting cameras available. A real crappy new data entry page that has slowed down process by at least 300%. No full original file names viewable on edit screen or on all rejections. Now keywords like "swimming" is automatically deleted as not valid. If a simple wording fix is needed the footage is deleted and requires a full hour long upload when a 10 second edit would comply with editorial byline or whatever was needed. Please think about us as your suppliers of goods, make it easy for us to supply and figure out what you want. Years of good reviews and acceptance and since you started to contract it out it seems that they feel they need to have a large rejection rate to justify their work. Yes, anyone can go back and with pixel peeping can justify any rejection and could also go back and reject 90% of all approved footage on SS, millions of them. I've made tens of thousands of dollars on clips that were rejected here on one other site that accepted them. I'm loyal to SS but need a little loyalty back. I'm not a newby at this. Isn't there a point somewhere that we as submitters can be trusted? Do we have to make SS individually a half million dollars each before we have proven ourselves?
  11. How can I re submit content that was rejected and now is in the Rejected section? https://submit.shutterstock.com/rejected I don't see anyway to fix what was wrong and re submit, without doing all the process all over again(find the same pic out of thousands in the library, upload, add 50 keywords, title, category etc...) Is there a way to simply edit pictures in Rejected section to upload them again instantly when rejection reason was a missing keyword etc'... ? this is so frustrating! Thank you
  12. I would like to avoid entering a Description and Keywords before submitting again. Maybe this is a website design feature, not a flaw. As a first-time Shutterstock Contributor, the learning curve is steep when finding inadequate and incorrect online Help documentation, instances of terminology ambiguity, and pages that are casually mentioned but not titled with the same term. My first submission was "not approved" (which apparently is NOT the same meaning as "Rejected"). I have corrected the video file and used ftp to upload. Eventually the file appeared as an item in the "Content Editor" that is often referred to in documentation, but is not actually titled as "Content Editor" on the page. OK, so I'm ranting a bit. So... am I required to re-enter my previously-used Description (no copying was possible from the last submission...), and re-search and enter the previously-used Keywords before pressing the red Submit button?
  13. Dear Shutterstock people, I've been trying to upload my media (specifically, footage), already keyworded in Adobe Bridge, but the keywords and descriptions are ignored by the new "To Submit" page. I am filling the IPTC fields, IPTC_Description and IPTC_Keywords, which in Bridge also fill the standard (base) keywords and description fields in the file info. Any idea why this is going on? For the staff, I now have one test file, uploaded and ready to submit, that contains metadata but which do not appear in the "To Submit" page, meaning I'd have to redo the work. Help very much appreciated! Thanks, Elio
  14. When I'm typing in keywords or description to submit content, even though I'm typing at normal speed, the letters are extremely slow to show up. Imagine typing flower, but the speed you see is f l o w e r. It's fine on with the app on my phone, but nearly impossible to do anything on my laptop. Its not my computer, I've tried 3 different ones. Also, when selecting a category it won't let me scroll down. That I also have to do on my cell.
  15. I've recently been on a trip to Skopje and in center of the city they have hundred statues, fountains, landmarks, memorial buildings, and while for some of them i understand, some are maybe even forbidden to submit so ill avoid submitting those that are direct landmarks to place, some of them are just known places so based on previous experience those are going in editorial. But they also have a lot of statues that are just statues, they are unknown people, there's no history tied up to them, there are also animals like tigers and lions. Some of them are just isolated statues, some of them are grouped statues with multiple people and/or animals, some of them are on the bridge, so i have wide shot of bridge with statues, some are making fountain. Some of them i just shoot partially like only shield of a warrior closeup, or spear, or helmet. So how do you submit these kind of photos, are they editorial or not, or are they even forbidden to submit?
  16. I am totally confused. I have submitted this image twice. I was sure I had a drunk reveiwer the first time, but I got the same result the second time. I really do want to submit this photo, although not everyone will think it's a good one. It's not really large (cell phone photo), so I can't crop it as much as I'd like, but it's crystal clear and the model is really cute! I also didn't find a lot like it on Shutterstock. It's meaningful because the little guy is being treated like a baby with his soft blankie. The rejection reason both times was Rejection reasons (1) Objectionable Content: Image and/or metadata contains potentially objectionable content. The desciption is Adorable baby white-faced capuchin monkey in a blanket being held by woman with glitter fingerpolish in front of a bokeh outdoor background Here are my keywords: monkey, baby, cute, face, nature, hair, animal, wildlife, portrait, pet, pretty, owner, love, mammal, natural, outdoor, young, summer, small, comforting, primate, security, blankie, blanket, comical, maternal, adorable, domestic, breed, beautiful, little, furry, funny, creature, baby monkey, closeup, expression, monkeys, nurturing, species, hands, hold, baby white-faced capuchin, capuchin, fun, lifestyle, exotic, close up, sweet, carry; Hum, maybe "breed" or "love"? Do you guys see anything else before I try #3? FYI: Dreamstime just accepted this little guy. FYI 2: I submitted a small photo. The orignal shows every hair and the monkey is totally in focus.
  17. Hi, I am having an issue with submitting video, and I have no idea what's wrong : 1. I use the same FTP program and settings (Filezilla) as for my photos. My photos appear in "submit photos", but my video clips don't. So I suppose my upload settings are correct. 2. Clips upload in a normal way, and Filezilla reports "upload successful". 3. I wait for 24 hours, 3 days, 1 week ... the clips do not appear on the page "submit video". 4. My clips are part of a series, all rendered on the same day with the same settings, and a few months ago, I could submit them and they were accepted. They also are of the same size and length. So if 3 months ago, similar clips were OK, and my Filezilla settings are OK, what can be wrong ? I have been trying every week for more than a month now, and they never appear on the "submit video" page. Any suggestions are VERY welcome!
  18. Hi, Can anyone tell me where is the deleted item button (red X button)? Since there's no approved item menu in this site? It's important for me when I need to remove or replace with new item. Thanks,
  19. Is it the new with one category when submitting and after ok select another category? And yes the sales has stopped, thinking of other sites if not get to usual dls...
  20. Hello everyone, a few days ago I have submitted an image of mountain with oil painting filter on to all major players and they all rejected it. SS wrote: Post-Production Technique -- Image contains quality issues due to cloning, isolation, or other post-production techniques. Adobe rejected it because: non compliant content...etc. Question: How am I suppose to submit an image to SS with artistic filter on it? I never done that before. Thanks a lot.
  21. Hello everyone! I'm currently trying to submit some new footage that I believe is perfect for stock sales. The content has a crisp, clear image, and is in 4K quality. However, when I try to upload the clip, it gets rejected for "Noise / Artifacts / Pixelation -- Clip contains excessive noise, compression artifacts, and pixelation " . But like I said, on my end the video is perfectly clear and crisp. There's no detectable noise, artifacts, or pixelation in the video, which leads me to believe that somehow my videos are getting compressed in a strange way when I upload the file. So what precautions can I take when rendering out the video file, and uploading the content? Currently I'm splicing the clips in premiere pro, and I render the clips in H.264 mp4 (matching the native quality and fps as the original clip), and then I use FileZilla for ftp upload. Is there a better format to be rendering my clips in to avoid strange compression post upload? I seriously have no clue as to why my clips would appear noisy or distorted post upload. Thanks for the help!
  22. Hello, The title of the topic should be self explanatory, but just in case, the submit button isn't doing anything. I put in the description, add keywords, select category, etc, the usual, then, when I press the submit button, nothing happens. Please look into this. Thank you.
  23. I need some help and if someone could answer me I will be really grateful. So I have some pictures from an airshow, most of them are military planes. I uploaded a few like this one: But then I realised that with this kind of photos is very easy to make a perfect white background and the planes pure black. The problem is that I also want to upload them like that but I dont know how. I did not find an article about this situation. So should I just upload like any other photo or upload like a vector...eps files etc?!?!
  24. Is anyone else experiencing problems with new submit images/video design? Almost every time when you select multiple images, add description, keywords, category and click submit it fails to submit the first time. Showing only that something is wrong without specifying what exactly? Then I don't do ANY changes just click submit a couple more time and it goes. All this looks really buggy. And the other thing is that when I use Shutterstock keyword suggestion tool it gives me some words and then in the new submit form it says that these words are not allowed. Like "xmas" Ok, thats cool but why are you then suggesting them??? Just don't show them in the suggestion tool. This really isn't cool.
