  3. Maybe it's something simple but I can't find out how to do it: I'm trying to find the work of someone I knew (don't really know if he uploaded to SS, but I know he did some stock in the past). Just entering the name in the global SS searchbox isn't working. Any tips?
  4. Hi, I am new to Shutter stock and have around 60 images in my portfolio. Most of them are travel photos. I humbly request senior and experienced members to kindly see my portfolio and provide some inputs and feedbacks. Are my photos saleable?
  5. Earnings are down, but why?

    Your earnings are down because of over saturation of Stock images, and new sites, that are currently out there at the moment, and the bad news is that it is going to get much worse. The only way to achieve higher sales now is to have a massive, current varied port folio! The days of regular sales of certain images in your port are on the decline, and you have to accept that images will sell only a handful of times. We the contributor take all the risks in this business model, would you spend $100s on a shoot with talent only to have that image sold a few times at 35 cents? This is where the 'Shot List' becomes a joke, SS are desperate for these kind of images, go spend a fortune on making those images that SS requests and see if you make more than $20. This is now also happening with Video sales, I am still showing growth although my profit in sales has slowed but I'm making 2000 video clips a year which would have seen my profits doubled over the last year a few years back, now I may have to make and upload 4000 clips a year just to keep my profit growth up. I always try to look at the bigger picture, it's how much your portfolio is worth as a whole now and to all the newbies out there, this is not a get rich quick scheme, if you want to earn decent money at this have a massive portfolio that is varied and is of high quality! If you are wondering why your photos don't sell, try uploading to Adobe Stock first and see how many images they will pass and then use the images that they passed to upload here.
  6. I am sure almost everybody has some pix of that kind. Not so many sales usually but we love them! So let's share our not-so-commercial live treasures! 1-3 images, for example... And share how many sales the images had (optional!). Thanks in advance! I'll start. --- 1. This is a dusky leaf monkey. The number of sales - 0. 2. Macaque kids playing. The number of sales - 5! 3. A tortoise in the water (with space! for someone's logo ). Sales - 0.
  7. Portfolio Disappearing

    My portfolio is reduced from around 700 photos (I forgot if 700+) to 24 photos. Is anyone else facing this? The lack of any recent threads about this is worrying!
  8. Missing Pictures

    I am missing a number of pictures from my portfolio. I checked the pending or rejected list and they are not there. 19. Hi! I was thinking, lately, that maybe deleting approved (obviously) but for a long time (12+ months) unsold photos would make the rest photos more visible to a buyer browsing through a contributor's gallery.... I would like to know what others think on this topic.... is deleting multiple photos something penalised by shutterstock algorythm or simply just an unecessary action without any positive consequences or is it something others have tried with positive results?
  20. Approved photo not active

    Hello, I am very new to this website, I recently submit the first image which was then approved. Now I see the image in the "approved" section, but it does not result as "active", thus my portfolio is still empty. In the guidelines I have not found anything about this, is it just a matter of more time to wait? Do I have to do something more to "activate" the image? Also, this might be related, if I do an image search with my tags, I do not find my photo, but I do find it if I paste the photo ID on the searchbar. Many thanks, EliaM
  21. Crappy Works

    Hello there, Hope everyone is keeping well. Some people said that one of the reasons to our poor sales here is due to a huge amount of uploads that have flooded Shutterstock now Since nobody like to think that one's work is of no use or crappy ones. (otherwise, why bother uploading...?) Here's my question thou. We heard people criticizing others' works as crappy with no hesitation. How do you define a crappy work yourself in your own portfolio? If you have pages after pages of images that had ZERO download sitting there over a long period of time, (say a year or two or even more) Will you consider deleting those images from your portfolio or will you rather keep them hoping that it will be sold some days in the future? I know some people had said that as long as you keep the images you never know what will come by. Personally, I think those scenarios are very few and far between nowadays. It's more of a hoarder's mindset if you asked me. Given that daily sales is not a given anymore to many hardworking contributors. My own experience here is that I do have surprising substantial sales once in a long while but none of those had came from the image that had no sale record before. (In my not so big portfolio, I admit that I had about 40 crappy images that had zero download.) I had deleted those images last year (every single one of them!). I will review my own portfolio again in a few months time to see if there's any images that has no download. Personally, it helps me to present a more streamline portfolio to the buyers. Be keen to hear what your thoughts are. Cheers everyone.
  22. Should I delete old bad footages? ... like this:
  23. Although it's been 7 months, I still am not over 100$. What is my mistake, or what am ı missing in my portfolio, you think? Should ı keep trying or just give up? Shutterstock portfolio link;
  24. Most of us began submitting to Micro stock agencies to make money, but I wonder, do you submit anything that you think might be accepted (and hope it sells) or do you limit your submissions to those images or videos that you really like or should I say, "you are proud of"? Given current payout schedules and their continual reduction by Shutterstock and the other agencies, is uploading just the "good stuff" justified or even wise? Maybe it's my age 68), upbringing or misplaced pride in my portfolio but unless I really like a photo it stays on my hard drive, you'll never see it online. I currently only upload photos and my average download price is pretty high (.82+) which may be in part due to my upload standards but I wonder. . . WHAT DO OTHER CONTRIBUTORS,THINK AND DO? Do you take pride in your portfolio, is that even a factor or is money the only real driving force in what you upload?
