  1. Hi, Having read a series of books on stock photography, I came across the frequently expressed idea, that your best selling photograph is often one, you yourself, regarded as the plainest, or least expected to sell. This was certainly the case with my best selling photograph, on Shutterstock. I was very cynical about even trying to recycle food waste in a compostable food bag, let alone take and publish a photograph of it. After finally being persuaded by my wife to donate one of my compost bins to the cause, I almost took the photograph to prove the justified reasons for my reluctance. How wrong I was. The bag is no longer with us. Ashes to ashes, compost bag to compost. All that said, the photograph is still selling steadily, 10 months later. Not a load of rubbish after all. Have any of you similar stories to share and tell? I'd love to hear from you as a beginner stock photographer, who wants to become an intermediate in the very near future. Best wishes, Peter Shaw https://www.shutterstock.com/imaghttps://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/this-initiative-avoids-plastic-being-used-1469706467e-photo/this-initiative-avoids-plastic-being-used-1469706467
  2. Hi all! I'm a fairly new contributor and I was wondering, am I allowed to post designer clothing in my images, do I need some kind of permission from the designer or are just the model releases enough? This particular clothes doesn't have a visible logo on it and it's not unique in the scence there is only one piece in the world, but it is fairly unique and recognizable, some pieces also have hand-made embroidery (which is kinda generic etno embroidery work) but it, combined with the type of old cotton material and cut, makes for some pretty unique dresses. Check out the attachment to see what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance! :)

  7. From the album: Submitted for approval

Hi all! I submitted for approval and were rejected. Image contains quality issues due to isolation, or other post-production techniques. You could show me the right direction? I know the isolation is old-school, but not this was the problem. Thank you.

  8. Is anyone else experiencing problems with new submit images/video design? Almost every time when you select multiple images, add description, keywords, category and click submit it fails to submit the first time. Showing only that something is wrong without specifying what exactly? Then I don't do ANY changes just click submit a couple more time and it goes. All this looks really buggy. And the other thing is that when I use Shutterstock keyword suggestion tool it gives me some words and then in the new submit form it says that these words are not allowed. Like "xmas" Ok, thats cool but why are you then suggesting them??? Just don't show them in the suggestion tool. This really isn't cool.
  9. Hello dear friends! I'm new in Shutterstock - its so exciting and such an honor to being part of this amazing agency and its community. I'm uploading my work which are concept arts and illustrations I've done in years. And some of them includes human figures. My illustrations based on 3D renderings and human figures created by myself (I'm also a 3D modeler worked in productions) -- but having figures causing problems and getting rejected because there's no release form. There's no "message to editor" section while submitting like an other agency I'm working. I wanted to ask if there's a way to let editors know that human figures in my work are not real, no traced from a photo but created from scratch? Thank you very much in advance and have awesome sales! - Kerem

  15. Hi everyone. It's been a while since I've posted anything here and that's because I was in Greece over the summer, working my first photography job and after I got back to England I've been extremely busy. One of the reasons for that is because I decided I want to start assisting a photographer and/or doing some freelance work, because I need to start earning some money and I don't feel like I've got enough experience yet, or funds for that matter, to start my own photography business. So I've been working on my website and that is the reason I am here.. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what you think about it, the way it looks, how easy it is to navigate on it, even things like the size of the images, if they're too big/small, because I know what they look like on my 15" laptop screen and on my tablet, but you'll have different size screens. Also, about the content I've posted, do I need more/less images...you get the point. Basically I need this site to look as good and professional as possible to help me find work. http://www.vladgphoto.com/ It would be nice to hear your thoughts and if you have any suggestions on how I could make it better. Thanks
