Wow this brings back horrific nightmares of a few years ago when I went to Cambodia and shot five hundred horrible images cause I had no clue....You're in Antarctica, not easy to get to - do some kind of crash course and get some great shots. I wish I had done that way before I spent money on travel!

Thanks man, but I didn't go to Antarctica for the photos. I went there for the experience and happened to bring my camera with me ;)

Mark, from the distance at which I took this would a flash really make a difference? I was 5 metres away from the subject.

I am using the flash that comes with the camera  (nikon D90).

Yes it would but not the on camera flash. Buy a yongnuo 568 would do 5meters away is quite close and it will have no problems. Buy a better beamer for longer distances
